Edwin Morgan Collection
Until 24th March 2005

"The Hunterian has always depended greatly on the generous gifts and bequests of private individuals to develop its collections. The recent gift of some 70 works of art by Scotland’s greatest living poet, Edwin Morgan, is a very special example of such generosity.  Morgan's collection is a wonderful addition to the Hunterian, reflecting as it does so clearly, half a century at the centre of creative life in Glasgow and in Scotland.

To celebrate this very generous gift, the Hunterian Art Gallery has organised an exhibition centered around Morgan's art collection. It includes a selection of paintings, drawings and prints, and examples of his own literary output acquired by the Special Collections department of Glasgow University Library over recent years. Highlights include Girl by a Flower Stall by John Duncan Fergusson; Couple by John Wyndham Lewis; Barking by Peter Howson; Boy with Paper Snake by John Byrne; Tamagra and Landscape by James Cowie; and Devil and Boat by Steven Campbell."
